Funko has sent out promotional images of both The Rocketeer and Firefly Legacy lines, and preorders are already up!
We saw the Firefly figures last weekend at Toy Fair, but word is that those were early factory samples rushed out to make the show.
The Funko display with the lit shelves always makes it kind of hard to get good photographs. What we could see was pretty good, at least what we’re used to with factory paints. But the carded samples gave us a closer look.
The biggest offender in collector’s eyes was Kaylee. The paint looked off, the hair slightly too red, and the hairpiece itself seemed to sit too high or too far back, causing the forehead to look large.
But looking at the new promotional pics, the sculpts are there and the likenesses look much closer with the prototype paint. Now the factory just needs to translate the protos to finished product better, because these look fantastic.
Same hair on Kaylee, just placed correctly. Like I said, I think at least the sculpt will make it through to the final product. If the paint misses the mark then I’ll repaint. I need these. Badly.

The Rocketeer was also shown at Toy Fair but being that his head is a helmet there is much less chance for a missed likeness. Sure, there is the alternate unmasked head, but I’m all over displaying the helmet head.
