NECA: Bad Blood Predator

Bad Blood Predator (30)NECA has perfected the art of making Predator figures, and the Bad Blood Predator continues the trend of great-looking, fully articulated figures that work great for play and display.

This Predator is a deluxe offering, with more accessories than the standard Predator. The “Bad Blood” refers to the original comic mini-series that featured this particular Predator, which has been collected in the 3rd volume of the Predator Omnibus for your reading pleasure. Basically, this is a serial killer Predator; a rogue Predator that kills not for the glory of combat, but because he’s nuts. That’s a heartwarming idea.

Bad Blood features the standard NECA Predator articulation scheme, with a full range of motion in his shoulders, elbows, ball-hips, double-jointed knees and ball-jointed wrists and ankles. There will be no surprises if you’re a follow of the Predator figures, and if this will be your first, then don’t be afraid — this is no statue.

The sculpt work is, as always, very strong, and Bad Blood features a lot more sculpting that the usual predator. He’s adorned with random skulls over his body, including the skull of another Predator on his shoulder and one skull on each kneecap. These serve to enhance not only his ferocity, but the sheer otherwordliness of him. I love the sculpting on these; they look like real bone and have been painted accordingly. It takes some alien nads of steel to walk around with the skull of your own kind stapled to your shoulder. Bad Blood is strictly DFWM.

This particular Predator has what appears to be a nipple piercing and an eyebrow piercing, so this is a Predator that might hang out at Hot Topic. Awesome.

He comes with a handful of severed heads, two of which have been stripped to the bone and two that feature faces. They’ve been sheared in half, and if you flip it over, you can see the disgusting results. The skulls are connected and the two human heads feature two clips that allow you to store all of them on his belt.

The standard Predator wrist blades have been upgraded here to a triple blade, and they’re soaked in blood. He also comes with a blood-stained machete and a staff that slides into a slot on his back. His final accessory, I’ll confess, has me stumped. It looks like a bit of hair or something, but I’m not sure what it’s supposed to be. I’m assuming if I had read the story (something I’m planning on doing) I’d know, but, as it is, I don’t have a clue. If somebody knows, then leave a comment and let me in on it.

Bad Blood comes with two right hands: one for holding his spear or machete, and one bloody hand for dramatic gestures.

If you’re into the Predator figures, then there’s no real surprises to be found here, just another high quality, great-looking figure to add to the growing army. I know for many they might seem repetitive, but each one offers something slightly different to the overall Predator myth, and Bad Blood is no different. He’s a psycho killer. Run away.
