Hasbro – Guardians of the Galaxy Legends Infinite Nova

I’ve always been a fan of Nova, at least since I first took notice of him way back in New Warriors. Then a little event called Annihilation happened and he shot straight up to my top 10 list. And then Hasbro released this…

I don’t remember why I passed on him. Maybe it was the fact that I don’t care too much for this body. Maybe it was because it wasn’t of his new shiny Nova Prime costume. In fact, I don’t think I picked up much of this wave at all. I think I was knee deep in DCUC. Either way, this new Legends Infinite Nova is the bee’s knees and makes me completely forget about the first version.

First off, the packaging. Yup. Purty. Now get off my figure!

If you have a Bucky Cap or Black Panther, you know what to expect here. The torso is the most noticeably new piece along with the head. I show the ab movement in the video below.

Be nice, it’s my first attempt at a video. It’s rough and I have a lot to learn but we’re going to keep at it to supplement the written reviews.

Now, when I first opened Nova, the elbows and knees were really rubbery and floppy. I was put off by this, so I put him up on the shelf with his elbows bent all the way up, kind of a power pose. I proceeded to play with my Guardians for a few days. When I pulled Nova back down the knees and elbows had somehow magically stiffened up. And straightened out, as you can see in the pics above that were taken before the stiffening. Slight twist and turn out at the right elbow. I don’t know, I’m not an expert on plastic except when it comes to tearing it up.

But really, this is the last Nova I’ll ever need.

The costume’s blue is a sparkly swirly twirly plastic that we’ve seen on some Iron Mans and especially Iron Monger. I know some people hate this, but I absolutely love it, especially here for a cosmic character. Paint everywhere else is really nice although I have a chip or two on the shoulder pads.

And speaking of the shoulder pads, I’m not quite in love with the way they are mounted. I can understand why it was attempted this way, but I think the armature holding them should be a little smaller and thinner and able to sink into the torso more for a better streamlined shoulder. It doesn’t bother me too much, but I pick it out when I’m looking there.

I’m not one to feature customs in my retail figure reviews but I hate hate hate the Drax Hasbro gave us, and while my custom Drax is outdated and I don’t like the arms as much as I used to, here is a group shot.

Now all I need is a comic Gamora to go with my Annihilation shelf. And a good Silver Surfer. Quasar and Moondragon. And Thanos’ costume in that arc. Or a Thanos proper. But I do get to do this now…

Nova’s fist almost fits in Annihilus’ mouth.
