NECA Rocky Figures

IMG_0085

I got into the Rocky line late last year. It wasn’t something I thought I’d have any interest in since the initial pictures I saw made them look like statues from the waist down, which can happen with NECA products. After doing some info-digging, though, I found that they were fully poseable underneath the shorts, which immediately perked up my interest. I’ve only seen a couple of the movies, but after impulse-buying the Blu-Ray set and knowing myself pretty well, I decided to save myself the hassle and pick up as many of the figures as I could. I’m still missing some, but the purchase was well worth it. Now to make time to watch the movies…

While they’re not as poseable as your average Marvel Legends, what is there is fully functional. The “elbro” styled arms can get into any boxing pose you’d need, and the shorts are flexible enough with ball jointed hips that they can get into any boxing stance you’d want. In short, they do what you’d need them to do, no more, no less. And they look great.

  1. Yeah, the Rocky figures are an amazing line of toys. I really wish NECA would consider giving us a few more (perhaps a Rocky Balboa Rocky, at least. And maybe Thunderlips.) Nice coverage of these!

  2. I love these.

They’re all great, but they really did kick things up a notch with Clubber right at the end. Like Matthew said, his hips are better. The other figures can all move their legs in the same way, but they have that Marvel Legend type of ball joint that you’ve got to spin around, which takes a bit of work with the short.

Clubber’s got the ball hips like the 6″ Avengers. And his shorts are more flexible. AND he’s got a ball waist in addition to the mid-torso joint.

It’s a shame he’s the last figure, but I really like how they worked in improvements as such a short line moved along.

    Indeed, sir!

  4. I agree. These are awesome. I got Clubber first, so I was disappointed that the Rocky figures have the swivel hips rather than the awesome swivel/hinge.
